Presentation at CSW63

4Ward Miami will be presenting a panel discussion at the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63), on "Queer, Caribbean, African & Black Immigrant Women Oral Narratives: Living with HIV and Employed in Canadian HIV Response" facilitated Dr. Lori Chambers at the cast from the Canadian production, "Because She Cares."

Details:

Background:

"Because She Cares" is a critical poetic retelling of the transnational journeys and temporal trajectories of African, Caribbean and Black immigrant women living with HIV employed in the Canadian HIV response. "Because She Cares" is a play showing in multi-city Canadian cities, that has now been made into a documentary. We would like to have a Parallel Event to screen clips of the documentary and conduct a panel with the cast of "Because She Cares," while hoping that everyone will care about the experience of HIV+ immigrant women of color and their work in the HIV/AIDS public service field. The event also explores oral narratives from the queer community on living with HIV and/or being employed in HIV responses.
